Welcome to our Online Chess Club! Our purpose is to give you an opportunity to learn the game of chess while playing with other school aged people throughout the community. There are a few very important rules that need to followed in order for everyone involved to enjoy this experience.
The Rules:
1. Be both respectful and polite: Regardless if you win or lose, there is never a reason to insult or taunt the other player. A simple "good luck" or "hello" at the beginning of matches, and "good game" or "thanks for playing" at the end really goes a long way to keeping the experience fun.
2. Understand that this is both a "competitive" and "learning" experience. It can be both frustrating and annoying to have mistakes pointed out while a game is active. Unless a player asks, DO NOT offer advice in game. On the flip side to this, it is possible to review moves after the game. If you would like to offer advice to other players, or point out some missed opportunities, feel free to offer to review a few things with them once it is all over. Your opponent may or may not want to, but it is a nice show of sportsmanship to offer.
3. Report all games played vs players in the club once they are finished. If you know how, include a screenshot of the final board.

Weekly Schedule:
Because of the uncertainty surrounding my daily schedule, the goal in the beginning will be to schedule you one chess game per week vs another member.
If you are a player with very little to no experience, I will also be scheduling a game to be played with me (Mr.T) each week, until I am confident that you understand the basics of chess.
If you are an experienced player, you will likely get no games with me (Mr.T) until later in the year.
If you play more competitive games (outside your scheduled games, using the rules we will have in place) with other club members throughout the week, submit them to me also. There is no reason not to have them included in your win total.
I will do my best to schedule games against players who are no more than one ranking level higher (or lower) than you.

Your ranking:
Throughout the year as you win or lose, you will gain in "Rank". There will be four rankings, and it will depend on the number of players involved, as to how many players are in each ranking.
These rankings will reflect only your play vs. other club members. Your "Score" within chess.com will not be taken into consideration.
